I’ve realised something over the last few weeks.
Being a pop fan has quietly become detective work again.
For a while, artists stopped giving us time to speculate. Albums would appear with a week’s notice. Surprise drops became the norm. If there was a collaboration, you’d find out when you pressed play.
Now?
We’re back to zooming into blurry studio photos.
Watching who follows who.
Checking publishing databases.
Reading way too much into an Instagram Story that disappears twelve hours later.
One producer likes one tweet and suddenly half the internet is convinced an album exists.
Honestly, I kind of missed it.
This isn’t a news roundup.
It’s the conspiracy board currently living rent free in my head.

Let’s start with what we actually know.
Charli xcx has a mystery feature on Music, Fashion, Film
This one isn’t speculation.
During an appearance on French television, Charli confirmed there’s exactly one feature on her upcoming album.
Then she doubled down.
“I’d bet money on you not guessing.”
Which, naturally, has caused everyone to start guessing.
The problem is that every obvious answer suddenly feels wrong because Charli basically told us it was wrong.

Here’s where things get interesting.
Charli x Madonna?
This isn’t confirmed.
But it’s also not completely random fan fiction.
The biggest theory doing the rounds is that the mystery collaborator could somehow involve Madonna.
That speculation isn’t coming out of nowhere. Charli has spent time with Madonna recently, and the pair have publicly interacted enough for fans to start connecting dots.
Does that automatically mean she’s appearing on a Madonna remix album?
No.
Does it stop anyone from believing it?
Also no.
This is exactly how conspiracy boards are born.

Madonna’s remix project
There are persistent rumours that Madonna is preparing a remix-focused project and that Charli could appear somewhere on it.
At the time of writing, there has been no official confirmation from Madonna or her team that Charli is involved.
So for now this stays exactly where it belongs.

Lady Gaga’s “Total Mayhem”
I have to mention this because I refuse to pretend I haven’t been thinking about it.
There was a lot of chatter surrounding a possible expanded MAYHEM project, often referred to online as Total Mayhem.
Nothing official has materialised.
Part of me still wants it to.
The other part remembers spending years convincing myself ARTPOP Act II was just around the corner.
I’ve learned my lesson.
Sort of.
If Gaga wants to revisit MAYHEM, she’ll do it when she’s ready.
I’d rather wait than get something rushed.
Mother has earned that trust.

Kim Petras and Charli xcx
This one has definitely caught my attention.
Fans have noticed playful interactions between Kim Petras and Charli online, which has naturally reignited hopes for another collaboration.
There are also rumours that Kim has remix material in the works.
As of today, though, there has been no official announcement confirming either a remix album or a new Charli collaboration.
Could it happen?
Absolutely.
Has it been announced?
Not yet.
Which somehow makes everyone even louder.
Fan Theory
This is where the red string comes out.
KATSEYE and “Bel Air”
This is my favourite theory of the week.
Fans noticed KATSEYE’s upcoming EP reportedly contains a track called Bel Air.
Immediately, people started wondering…
Could it actually be that Bel Air?
The infamous XCX World track?
Adding fuel to the fire is the fact that Charli has already worked with KATSEYE before, making the idea feel just plausible enough to keep people talking.
But that’s all it is.
A fan theory.
Nobody involved has confirmed the song is related to XCX World in any way.
Still…
Imagine hearing “Bel Air” officially released in 2026 after all this time.
I’d lose my mind.

Why this is fun again
I’ve survived enough fake pop announcements to know better.
ARTPOP Act II.
XCX World.
Entire albums that apparently existed because somebody’s cousin’s producer accidentally liked a tweet in 2018.
Every fanbase has one.
And somehow we always fall for it again.
That’s part of the fun.
Being a pop fan isn’t just listening anymore.
It’s decoding.
It’s connecting dots that probably aren’t connected.
It’s convincing yourself the answer is obvious before the artist completely blindsides everyone.
Charli saying “you’ll never guess” might genuinely be the smartest piece of album promotion she’s done this era.
Because now we’re all doing the marketing for her.
Every timeline has become a conspiracy board.
Every reply section is full of theories.
Every Discord has somebody insisting they’ve worked it all out.
Maybe Madonna is involved.
Maybe Kim is.
Maybe the collaborator is somebody nobody has even mentioned yet.
Maybe KATSEYE really did *rescue a piece of XCX World from the vault.
Or maybe, in a month’s time, we’ll all look back at these theories and laugh.
Honestly?
I kind of hope so.
Half the fun of being a pop fan isn’t finally hearing the song.
It’s the two weeks beforehand where you’re absolutely convinced you’ve already solved the mystery.
